Curaçao Opens World Cup Qualifiers With Goalless Draw Against Trinidad and Tobago

PORT OF SPAIN – The Curaçao national football team kicked off its World Cup qualification campaign with a goalless draw against Trinidad and Tobago in Port of Spain.

In the Hasely Crawford Stadium, coach Dick Advocaat fielded a strong lineup. Goalkeeper Eloy Room was in excellent form, denying the home side with several impressive saves. Riechedly Bazoer anchored the defense, while brothers Leandro and Juninho Bacuna also featured in the starting eleven.

Curaçao must finish top of its qualification group to secure a direct spot at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. A second-place finish would still provide a pathway through the play-offs. The group also includes Jamaica and Bermuda.

After the opening round, Jamaica leads the group following a convincing 4-0 victory over Bermuda. Curaçao will now turn its attention to its home match against Bermuda in Willemstad on Tuesday evening. The crucial clash with Jamaica is scheduled for October.
