WILLEMSTAD - As part of the commemoration of 15 years of Curaçao as an autonomous country within the Kingdom of the Netherlands, the Parliament of Curaçao organized the special event “Galeria di Pais Kòrsou” to honor all former Presidents of Parliament who have served from October 10, 2010, to the present.
The ceremony took place at the Marriott Beach Resort, where the current President of Parliament, Mr. Fergino Brownbill, presented the “Martin di Oro” (Golden Martin) award to each former President in recognition of their service.
The Martin di Oro is an honorary distinction awarded to individuals or organizations that have strengthened the core principles of democracy, dialogue, and transparency. This was the first time the Curaçao Parliament has granted this award.
Among the honorees was Prime Minister Gilmar Pisas, who previously served as President of Parliament from February 17 to March 23, 2017.
Mr. Brownbill paid special tribute to Prime Minister Pisas during the ceremony, stating:
“Mr. Pisas, during your term, you demonstrated a genuine heart for the people and a deep concern for social matters. You led parliamentary sessions with clarity of vision and sincerity of intent, ensuring that every decision served the direct benefit of our community. You fostered an atmosphere of collaboration and respect among Members of Parliament.”
Prime Minister Pisas received his “Martin di Oro” award as a symbol of recognition for his leadership and contribution to the advancement of democracy in Curaçao.
