WILLEMSTAD – The number of cyberattacks targeting Curaçao is on the rise, prompting urgent calls for a united response from businesses, government institutions, and the education sector. This was announced by the Curaçao Business Association (Vereniging Bedrijfsleven Curaçao, VBC) in a press release.
According to the VBC, rapid digital developments such as cloud technology and online payments come with significant risks. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are especially vulnerable, the organization warns, due to limited resources and a lack of cybersecurity expertise.
The association is urging stakeholders to work together by offering joint training programs, improving the exchange of information, and developing a national crisis plan to prepare for large-scale cyber incidents.
Despite the growing risks, the VBC also highlights opportunities. By investing in cybersecurity now, Curaçao could position itself as a safe and reliable digital hub for the region, the association emphasized.
