Driver Arrested After Fatal Hit-and-Run on Caracasbaaiweg

 

WILLEMSTAD - Police have arrested the driver responsible for the fatal traffic accident on Caracasbaaiweg on Tuesday night, in which a pedestrian was killed. The suspect had fled the scene after the collision but was later tracked down and taken into custody.

The incident occurred around 12:15 a.m., just past the Bronsweg intersection heading east. When police arrived, they found the victim unconscious on the road and showing no signs of life.

Emergency medical personnel were quickly dispatched but were unable to save the man, who had sustained severe injuries from the impact. A police physician later officially confirmed his death at the scene.

Driver Fled After Collision

According to authorities, the driver involved in the crash failed to stop or identify himself and left the scene immediately after hitting the pedestrian. Police investigators launched an urgent search and successfully located and arrested the suspect shortly thereafter.

Victim Identified

Police have released the identity of the victim as Gabriel De Jesus Magdalena, a 37-year-old Curaçao-born man, born on October 5, 1988.

The investigation into the circumstances of the collision is ongoing. Police continue to call on anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has relevant information to come forward.
