Fire Department Continues Successful ‘Brandweer in uw Wijk’ Campaign

WILLEMSTAD - The Fire Department of Curaçao is continuing its successful community campaign “Brandweer in uw Wijk” (Fire Department in Your Neighborhood). After well-attended events in Barber and Brievengat, the initiative moves today to Punda, where residents can participate in various activities focused on fire safety and prevention.

Starting at 6:00 p.m., the Fire Department will distribute free smoke detectors, followed by an informative lecture at 7:00 p.m. in the inner courtyard of the Ministry of Justice at Wilhelminaplein. During the session, firefighters will discuss several key topics related to fire prevention and safety in the home and community.

The event is designed for all ages, featuring activities for children, including a bouncy castle, as well as gifts and souvenirs from the Fire Department. Visitors will even have the opportunity to practice extinguishing a fire in a safe and controlled way.

Several fire trucks and emergency vehicles will also be on display, allowing attendees to take photos and learn more about the daily work of Curaçao’s firefighters. Informational brochures and flyers will be distributed to raise awareness about the importance of fire prevention.

Under the motto “Prevenshon e mihó Opshon” (“Prevention is the Best Option”), the campaign is supported by Minister of Justice Shalten Hato, who will also be present to emphasize the vital role of prevention in protecting lives and property.
