WILLEMSTAD – The Department of Public Schools is responsible for the cleaning of all public schools on the island. Meaning, the schools that are the responsibility of the government. The contracts with the cleaning companies have expired at the end of last year.

For 2019, the government will continue with this service and with the current cleaning companies that already have contracts. The process of financial approval is finally done and all the companies that offer this service have been informed that the government will continue with them. This is according to the agreement.

The agreement that is in force now is retroactive since January 1, 2019. This means that these cleaning companies can receive their payment for the full month of January as has been budgeted.

With this, the Minister of Education says there is no reason to strike. The schools will receive this service.
