GreenKidz launches anniversary fundraiser for special education — Donors to receive artwork by Avantia Damberg

WILLEMSTAD - The GreenKidz Foundation has launched its annual fundraiser for special education, which will run until April 2026. This year’s campaign carries a special meaning: to mark the foundation’s 10th anniversary, every donor will receive an exclusive anniversary gift designed by award-winning Curaçaoan artist Avantia Damberg.

Damberg created a series of green ceramic plates featuring nature motifs and ink drawings inspired by the island’s flora and fauna, exclusively for GreenKidz supporters. The visual artist, who has received multiple art awards, has been involved with the foundation since its early days.

Avantia is a nature artist who intentionally places her work in natural environments,” said Maya Mathias, founder of GreenKidz. “She draws inspiration from Curaçao’s cultural and natural heritage and, like us, works to promote environmental and ecological awareness. She’s the ideal partner for our GreenKidz meets GreenArt project.”

Supporting educational museum visits

Traditionally, GreenKidz donates coloring and activity books to special education programs each year. This time, however, the foundation has chosen a new approach. Funds raised will go toward educational visits for students from special education schools to the Children’s Museum Curaçao, where they will learn through play about waste management, litter, plastic pollution, and recycling.

“The Children’s Museum Curaçao is an inspiring partner,” Mathias said. “At the end of November, we’re launching the Ami Ku Mami project together, in which young mothers visit the museum with their children. By 2026, we hope to use the funds from this campaign to organize more educational outings for students in special education.”

Through this initiative, GreenKidz continues to bridge art, education, and environmental awareness, celebrating a decade of impact on Curaçao’s young generation.
