WILLEMSTAD - In the presence of invited guests, the official groundbreaking ceremony for the Lake View Residence project took place on Tuesday at Rif St. Marie. The development is led by Sea Shore Properties, part of the Janssen de Jong Caribbean group, and focuses on future-oriented, sustainable living.
During his speech, Kurt Verbist, Managing Director of Janssen de Jong Caribbean, highlighted the company’s commitment to creating a carefully integrated residential area that strikes a balance between comfort, nature, and cultural heritage.

The Lake View Residence project not only offers luxury housing, but also contributes to sustainable economic growth and local employment — with 200 jobs during construction and 75 permanent positions once completed.
Ministers Charles Cooper (Traffic, Transportation and Urban Planning, MFK) and Prime Minister Gilmar ‘Pik’ Pisas (MFK) both praised the project’s design and approach during the ceremony. As a symbolic gesture, the ministers each received a handcrafted keepsake made of brasia wood by local artist Gino Martina, while the chairperson of the Sint Willibrordus Community Foundation was presented with a decorative bouquet made from the same material.
In his remarks, Prime Minister Pisas also announced that the dirt road connecting Bandabou to Bullenbaai will be paved in 2026 to help reduce congestion on the main road to Westpunt.
The Lake View Residence is expected to become one of Curaçao’s flagship residential projects, blending modern living with the island’s natural beauty and community values.
