Half million guilders in salary while operating one airplane

WILLEMSTAD – Currently, InselAir pays about 500,000 guilders, about 300,000 dollars, in salary on a monthly basis. And this is to operate one aircraft.

According to Lars de Brabander, CEO of the airline, InselAir is not cutting in its operational expenses.

The CEO said that InselAir did lower its cost of personnel from 1.2 million guilders to half million and that they are operating very well right now. “We are doing good,” the CEO explained during the court hearing two weeks ago. InterCaribbean is already asking about the primary process within the local airline and they are indirectly participating in the decision making on the operational level through technical advises, said De Brabander.

The CEO did admit that there are serious cashflow problems. The actual problem in the airline is the accumulation of payments, while they are in the deferment of payment with the help of a superintendent. The court cannot protect InselAir from international creditors. One of them is the Curaçao Airport Partners (CAP). The airline owes them 4.7 million dollars already.

Without cashflow, the airline will not make it to January 15.
