WILLEMSTAD – Minister of Economic Development Robrecht Middelhof has delivered on a promise he made to the Economic Inspection within his first 100 days in office. On Thursday, September 18, the minister officially handed over four Grand Vitara SUVs and one D-Max pick-up truck to strengthen the team’s mobility, efficiency, and safety.
Middelhof first met with the Economic Inspection during his initial 30 days as minister, when he pledged to provide new uniforms and vehicles. With the delivery now completed, the inspection team is equipped to carry out its duties more effectively across multiple economic sectors. The pick-up will be specifically used by the Metrology Division (IJKwezen), which ensures quality standards and measurement control in the marketplace.
The new vehicles are described as environmentally friendly models, some fitted with hybrid technology, contributing to lower emissions and reduced fossil fuel consumption. According to the Ministry of Economic Development (MEO), this investment demonstrates a concrete step toward sustainability and responsible spending.
“In my first month, I promised the Economic Inspection team that we would provide them with the resources they deserve,” said Minister Middelhof. “Today, less than 100 days later, I am proud to say we have kept that promise. With new vehicles and uniforms, the team can protect our economy and consumers with greater efficiency and safety.”
The minister also expressed his gratitude to all Economic Inspection staff for their dedication and continued commitment to serving and protecting the people of Curaçao.
