Opening of Zone 2 as Part of the “Di bo, Pa bo, Ku bo” Campaign

WILLEMSTAD - On the weekend of Saturday, October 11, and Sunday, October 12, 2025, residents of Zone 2 (the northern region) of Curaçao will have the opportunity to easily dispose of bulky waste that does not fit into their regular garbage bins. As part of the national cleanup campaign “Di bo, Pa bo, Ku bo” (For you, By you, With you), the government will place large waste containers at strategic points throughout the neighborhoods, allowing residents to dispose of their waste responsibly.

The northern zone includes Sta. Maria, Kanga/Dein, Buena Vista, Muizenberg/Suffisant, and Brievengat, along with surrounding neighborhoods.

Official Opening of Zone 2 – Saturday, October 11, at SDK

The government invites residents of the northern region to attend the official opening ceremony of the cleanup campaign for Zone 2 on Saturday, October 11, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at the square near Ergilio Hato Stadium (SDK).

In addition to waste collection, an information fair will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., featuring children’s activities and educational booths. Several companies and organizations will participate, providing information on cleaning, waste management, and recycling practices.

A Campaign for Shared Responsibility

The “Di bo, Pa bo, Ku bo” campaign is aimed at keeping Curaçao clean while promoting a culture of shared environmental responsibility. During the first edition last year, more than 24 million kilograms of waste were collected across the island — a success that motivated the continuation of the campaign in 2025.

This year, the initiative focuses on Zone 2, with containers being placed in the participating neighborhoods over three consecutive weekends. This allows residents to dispose of waste close to home, without having to travel to the landfill.

Emphasis on Recycling and Sustainability

The 2025 edition of the campaign places special emphasis on waste separation and sustainability, raising awareness that waste can hold value when properly sorted and recycled.

“Curaçao becomes cleaner when we realize that not all waste is garbage,” the campaign organizers stated. “Many materials that are usually thrown away can be reused or recycled, reducing environmental harm and creating a healthier living environment for everyone.”

Waste Collection Points in Northern Curaçao

From October 11–12 and over the following three weekends, waste containers will be available daily from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the following locations:

Rooseveltweg, Sta. Maria

Corner of Cuba/Winston Churchillweg, Kanga/Dein

Santo Domingoweg, Buena Vista

Kaya Muizenberg, Suffisant/Muizenberg

SDK area, Brievengat

Separate containers will also be provided for recyclable materials.

With this campaign, Curaçao continues to move toward a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable island — for everyone, by everyone, and with everyone.
