WILLEMSTAD – Parliament Chair Fergino Brownbill (MFK) has called out Prime Minister Gilmar “Pik” Pisas (MFK) for failing to respond to parliamentary questions within the required timeframe.
Brownbill cited a 2013 protocol that obliges ministers to answer questions within two months or provide a written explanation for any delay.
A recent overview revealed that Justice Minister Shalten Hato (MFK) is the most behind, with five unanswered letters. Prime Minister Pisas, Finance Minister Javier Silvania (MFK), and Minister of Governance, Planning and Service (BPD) Kimberly Lew-Jen-Tai (MFK) each left three letters unanswered.
The majority of the questions came from the MAN-PIN faction, particularly from MP Suzy Camelia-Römer. The PNP faction followed, with three letters submitted by MP Sheldry Osepa.
The issue underscores growing concerns within Parliament over the government’s responsiveness and transparency, with some members pressing for stricter adherence to the existing rules.
