Parliament Members Call for Public Debate on Leaked Recording Involving Finance Minister and Receiver

WILLEMSTAD - A group of Members of Parliament has formally requested that Parliament Speaker Fergino Brownbill (MFK) convene an urgent public meeting to address a leaked audio recording circulating on social media involving Minister of Finance Javier Silvania (MFK) and the head of the Receiver’s Office, Alfonso Trona.

The request, outlined in an official letter to the Speaker, expresses serious concern over the contents of the recording, in which allegations of corruption and abuse of power are reportedly heard.

According to the MPs, the recording’s implications directly contradict the Pisas III government’s stated commitment to good governance and social justice.

The signatories describe the situation as “shameful” and urge Parliament to fulfill its oversight role by publicly discussing the matter with Prime Minister Gilmar ‘Pik’ Pisas, Minister Silvania, and Receiver Trona.

No date has yet been announced for the proposed parliamentary session, but several factions have indicated they consider the issue urgent and of national importance.
