Former Minister of Finance and Health expected to be sworn in as Member of Parliament
WILLEMSTAD - The Parliament of Curaçao will review the credentials of Javier Silvania today, Wednesday, October 22. If approved, Silvania will then be sworn in by the Governor, officially taking his seat as a Member of Parliament (MP) representing the MFK party.
Silvania previously resigned as Minister of Finance and of Health, Nature and Environment, following a series of developments within the government. His transition to parliament comes as MP Tyron Boekhoudt vacates his seat, allowing Silvania to join the legislative body.
he MFK politician, a prominent figure within the party, received more than 18,000 votes in the last general election, making him one of the most popular candidates on the island.
The public parliamentary session is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m. today. Citizens can follow the proceedings live via the official website www.parlamento.cw and the Facebook page Parlamento di Kòrsou.
As part of a new initiative, Parliament is also testing live audio broadcasts of sessions on radio station 102.5 FM, giving the public broader access to legislative proceedings in real time.
