Parliament’s Radio Service Ready for Official Launch After Technical Issues Resolved

WILLEMSTAD - The Parliament of Curaçao’s new radio service is now ready for its official launch following the resolution of several technical issues. Since October 10, the Parliament has been conducting test broadcasts on 102.5 FM.

The radio station was originally scheduled to begin broadcasting parliamentary sessions on October 2, but technical disruptions delayed the launch. A lightning strike at the Parliament building on Wilhelminaplein caused significant damage to broadcasting equipment and the internet connection, forcing the postponement.

Working closely with technicians from the internet provider, Parliament’s technical team has since managed to repair the system and restore full functionality.

A Vision for the Future

According to Parliament Chairperson Charetti America-Brownbill, the promise to establish a parliamentary radio service was not an empty one. The station aims to educate the public about parliamentary democracy and the work being carried out by Members of Parliament.

“This initiative forms part of our strategic communication plan,” Brownbill explained, emphasizing that the new service will help bring the legislative process closer to the people and strengthen public engagement with Curaçao’s democracy.
