WILLEMSTAD - A tragic accident occurred late Monday night on Caracasbaaiweg, just past the intersection with Bronsweg heading east, when a pedestrian was struck and killed in a hit-and-run incident.

Police received an emergency call about a serious collision involving a pedestrian. Upon arrival, officers found a severely injured man lying on the roadway, but medical assistance came too late — the victim showed no signs of life.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the man was hit while crossing the street, and the driver fled the scene without identifying themselves or offering help.

Ambulance personnel were unable to revive the victim, and a police physician later pronounced him dead at the scene.

Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the identity of the driver and are appealing to witnesses or anyone with relevant information to contact the police.
