PNP MP Ruisandro Cijntje Accuses Prime Minister Pisas of Failing Leadership and Transparency

WILLEMSTAD – PNP Member of Parliament Ruisandro Cijntje has launched a sharp critique against Prime Minister Gilmar Pisas, accusing him of a lack of leadership and transparency. In a letter dated July 21, Cijntje charged that the prime minister consistently remains silent on serious irregularities within the government and public institutions, a stance that he argues undermines public trust in politics.

In his letter, Cijntje listed a series of pressing issues that he believes require clarification from the prime minister. Among them are allegations of corruption within the Office of the Prime Minister, ongoing uncertainty about the roles of Global Oil and Vigor in the refinery, and the lack of concrete progress in the redevelopment of Bullenbaai. He also raised concerns about the asphalt project, citing earlier reports of irregularities and insufficient oversight.

“It is striking that the prime minister remains silent on these matters and does not take responsibility to properly inform the public,” Cijntje wrote, stressing that the head of government has a duty to guide the country through governance and integrity challenges.

Controversial Photograph

Beyond policy issues, Cijntje also addressed circulating images allegedly showing Pisas aboard a private jet. According to the MP, the photos have fueled speculation and rumors that damage the prime minister’s public image. He has demanded answers on whether the photo is authentic, who accompanied Pisas on the flight, and the purpose of the trip.

Formal Questions Filed

Cijntje has formally submitted thirteen written questions under Article 96 of the Parliament’s Rules of Order. This procedure requires the government to provide answers within a set timeframe, effectively placing the matter directly and publicly on the prime minister’s desk.

The move underscores growing political tension, as opposition parties continue to press the government for accountability on major integrity and development issues affecting Curaçao’s future.
