Prime Minister Pisas Honors Musical Heritage During Cultural Celebration “Ganchá bin pabou”

 

WILLEMSTAD - On Sunday, October 5, 2025, the district of Bándabou was filled with music, culture, and community spirit as Prime Minister Gilmar Pisas, together with several cabinet members, attended the festive closing of Culture Week, Bándabou Day, and the official opening of the carnival season in the region.

During the celebration, the Prime Minister presented awards to the winning schools that participated in the cultural quiz “Mi talento pa mi pais” (“My Talent for My Country”). He also paid tribute to four influential figures who have made outstanding contributions to the preservation and promotion of Curaçao’s musical heritage: Mr. Gilbert “Gibi” Doran, Mr. Ludson Andrea, Mr. Eligio Gijsbertha, and Mr. Ruchi Isidora. These cultural icons were honored for their lifelong dedication to enriching and safeguarding the island’s artistic and musical traditions.

Prime Minister Pisas highlighted the invaluable role of the Bándabou community in keeping Curaçao’s culture alive, emphasizing that its traditions and music remain a vital part of the island’s national identity.
