Prison HR Employee Suspended After Sharing Colleagues’ Personal Data on Gossip Platform

WILLEMSTAD - An employee of the Human Resources department at the Sentro di Detenshon i Korekshon Kòrsou (SDKK) has been suspended after leaking personal information about three colleagues on the gossip platform Redu Page. The incident, confirmed by union leader Juan Laurens, sparked a brief strike by prison staff.

According to Laurens, the HR worker initially denied posting the information but later admitted responsibility during talks with prison management. An investigation is now underway to determine whether the disclosure was intentional and what the employee’s motives were.

In protest, several prison staff stopped working for a few hours on Thursday. They demanded that the employee be barred from entering the facility until the investigation is completed.

Justice Minister Shalten Hato (MFK) agreed to the demand. He ruled that the HR worker will not be allowed to return to her workplace until the independent investigation has been finalized and the findings are made public.

The case has raised concerns about data privacy and workplace trust within Curaçao’s prison system, with calls for stricter measures to protect the personal information of staff.
