SER Issued 12 Advisory Reports in 2024, Highlighting Key Socio-Economic Issues

WILLEMSTAD – The Social and Economic Council of Curaçao (SER) issued a total of twelve advisory reports in 2024, two more than in the previous year. This was revealed in the council’s recently published annual report.

The recommendations were based on requests submitted in 2022, 2023, and 2024. Of the ten new advisory requests received last year, six were completed, while four arrived late in the year and have been carried over into 2025.

Several of the requests were marked as urgent by government ministers, including issues related to UBO registration, changes to health insurance, tax reforms, and the increase of the statutory minimum wage effective January 1, 2025.

According to the SER, the reports cover a broad spectrum of socio-economic topics, ranging from fiscal reforms and alignment with international standards to strengthening healthcare systems and social welfare arrangements.

The council stressed that its role is to provide independent advice that supports informed decision-making and contributes to Curaçao’s long-term socio-economic development.
