WILLEMSTAD - Employees of the Tax Department held an informational meeting during work hours on Tuesday morning to express concerns over growing uncertainty within the organization.
According to the ABVO union, staff members are increasingly uneasy following the resignation of former Finance Minister Javier Silvania, ongoing internal investigations within the department, and the temporary leave of Chief Tax Collector Alfonso Trona. Additional confusion has arisen over the roles and authority of several external consultants currently working within the department.
“The government, as the employer, has provided no clarity about what is happening or what the future plans are,” said ABVO board member Raymond Margaritha. “This lack of communication has caused frustration among employees. The staff simply wants transparency.”
Margaritha emphasized that the meeting was not a protest, but rather an opportunity for employees to voice their concerns and seek clarification from government officials.
The ABVO union stated that it will continue to represent its members and engage in dialogue with both the employees and the government to ensure that the issues raised are properly addressed.
