WILLEMSTAD - If UTS is sold, Telecuraçao will not be part of is. This is according to the Minister of Traffic, Transport and Spatial Planning, Zita Jesus-Leito. Telecuraçao is part of the Antillean Television Company ATM, which in turn is part of telecom provider UTS.
Since 2014, it has been the intention that TeleCuraçao will become its own government-owned company, with its own director and Supervisory Board.
For employees of TeleCuraçao, the working conditions would remain the same, as stated by the Ministry at the time. In addition, TeleCuraçao would not be subsidized and, like other governmental companies, would have to participate in a free market between competitors.
Whether the plans from 2014 still serve as the basis for the current reorganization is not known. UTS director Paul de Geus does not want to say much on this now. First, according to him, there should be clarity about UTS. But there is a good chance that ATM will just come under government again.
The subscriber channel Television Distribution Systems, TDS, is part of the takeover of UTS by another party.
