Temporary Traffic Measures in Willemstad for Autonomy Day Celebrations

 

WILLEMSTAD - In preparation for the celebration of Autonomy Day, temporary traffic measures have been implemented in the center of Willemstad starting today. The restrictions will remain in effect until the early hours of Saturday, October 11, and are intended to ensure that the festivities take place safely and smoothly.

The Hendrikplein will be closed to all motorized traffic until Saturday at 2:00 a.m. Parking in this area will not be permitted during the closure.

Additional road closures have been introduced around WilhelminapleinBreedestraat Punda, and Waterfortstraat starting today at 3:00 p.m. In the eastern part of Wilhelminaplein and the area known as “Yabi di sentro di suidat (Key to the City), only pedestrian traffic will be allowed temporarily.

Traffic from Hendrikplein toward Waterfortstraat and Plasa di Gobernador will be diverted, while parking near the former Plaza Hotel and along Waterfortstraat is prohibited. Restrictions also apply in the vicinity of the former Koko Loko CD-Center.

Police urge all road users to follow the instructions of traffic controllers and officers. The measures are designed to maintain order and ensure public safety throughout the Autonomy Day festivities.
