WILLEMSTAD - The civil servants’ union ABVO has condemned the behavior of Minister of Finance Javier Silvania following a heated confrontation with the head of the Receiver’s Office, Alfonso Trona. The dispute, which reportedly included shouting and profanity, was captured in a leaked audio recording that has circulated publicly.
According to ABVO, the recording clearly demonstrates an abuse of power by the minister. Union president George Hernandez has called on Prime Minister Gilmar “Pik” Pisas to intervene and take appropriate action.
“This is a form of dictatorship that spreads fear among civil servants,” Hernandez said. “ABVO strongly condemns this attitude and the way Minister Silvania treats government employees. We demand that he rectify his behavior and show respect toward public servants.”
The leaked recording has intensified public and political scrutiny of Silvania, who now faces mounting pressure from both the opposition and civil service organizations to address his conduct.
