US Military Strikes Boat off Venezuela, Six Dead as Tensions Escalate

CARACAS, WASHINGTON - The United States military carried out another strike on a vessel off the coast of Venezuela on Tuesday, resulting in six deaths, according to CNN.

President Donald Trump stated that the boat was carrying drugs and had ties to a terrorist organization, though he provided no evidence to support the claim. The attack reportedly occurred in international waters.

This marks the fifth deadly strike in the Caribbean since early September. In total, at least 25 people have been killed in the series of attacks. The Trump administration continues to assert that the targeted vessels were involved in drug trafficking, but so far, no concrete evidence has been presented to Congress.

The repeated attacks are heightening tensions with Venezuela. President Nicolás Maduro is reportedly preparing to declare a state of emergency in response. Meanwhile, frustration is growing in Washington—among both Democrats and Republicans—over the legal basis and justification for the U.S. military actions in the region.
