U.S. Tourist Airlifted from Klein Curaçao After Suspected Severe Heatstroke

WILLEMSTAD – A 62-year-old American tourist was airlifted by Coast Guard helicopter from Klein Curaçao to the main island on Friday afternoon after suffering from a suspected severe case of heatstroke.

The Maritime Operations Center (MOC) of the Coast Guard received the emergency call in the afternoon and immediately coordinated medical assistance. After consultation with a doctor from CITRO, it was determined that the woman required urgent transport to the Curaçao Medical Center (CMC) for further treatment.

A Coast Guard helicopter was dispatched to Klein Curaçao to retrieve the tourist. Upon arrival at Hato International Airport, ambulance personnel were on standby to transfer her directly to the hospital.

Authorities have not released further details about the tourist’s condition but emphasized the importance of caution during outdoor activities under Curaçao’s intense sun.
