WILLEMSTAD – Allegations of fraud and mismanagement have emerged involving Wonder Casino, a gaming platform reportedly registered in Curaçao, and its affiliate EM Group, the company responsible for administrative and compliance oversight. A disgruntled customer has sent a detailed email—also copied to the police, public prosecutor’s office, and Curaçao Chronicle—calling for immediate answers and legal action.
The email claims that Wonder Casino knowingly submitted false payment reports following a failed transaction on March 18. Despite the bank returning the customer’s funds to the casino on that date, the casino allegedly reported on March 20 that the transfer had been “confirmed.” Further discrepancies followed on March 21, including statements that the funds were “returned today” and that the casino had “received a call from the bank,” although the customer asserts that no such contact occurred.
The complainant describes these actions as “clear fraud,” raising concerns about what they call “false reporting” and deliberate misrepresentation of facts.
Adding to the controversy, the customer points to EM Group's internal role in the matter. The now-former lawyer representing EM Group, Niels Blokland, reportedly dismissed the complaint by stating “no wrongdoing can be identified.” EM Group’s staff member Cindy Drommond is also accused of having instructed the casino to freeze the complainant’s account, which the email suggests may implicate the firm in enabling or participating in the casino’s conduct.
The email also criticizes past legal proceedings before the Supervisory Board of Lawyers (RvT and RVA), arguing that those hearings failed to examine the core allegation of fraud and focused instead on procedural matters.
The sender calls the actions of EM Group “complicit” in the alleged misconduct of the casino and demands a formal response after repeated attempts to engage with the company went unanswered.
The case is likely to attract further attention as it raises questions about oversight and accountability in Curaçao’s offshore gaming sector, especially regarding how complaints are handled by entities like EM Group that operate under provisional licenses. Curaçao’s government recently committed to tightening its gambling laws and implementing greater regulatory transparency under the newly formed Curaçao Gaming Authority (CGA).
Curaçao Chronicle will continue to follow this developing story.
