This year marks the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. Eighty years ago, the Chinese people fought bloody battles and won the great victory of the Anti-Japanese War, making great contributions to the victory of the world anti-fascist war. There is an ancient Chinese saying that goes, “Taking history as a mirror, people can understand the ups and downs of powers.” At this point, I would like to give a few inspirations brought by this great event.
We must resolutely uphold the post-war international order. As pointed out by President Xi Jinping, the most significant decision by the international community at the end of WWII was to establish the United Nations. China won its permanent membership in the UN Security Council with great sacrifice. The UN Charter laid the foundation for the modern international order and established the basic norms of contemporary international relations. The more turbulent and intertwined the international situation becomes, the more we must firmly defend the achievements of World War II victory and the post-war international order. We shall uphold the international system centered on the United Nations, the international order based on international law, and the basic norms of international relations based on the principles of the UN Charter. We shall serve as builders of world peace, contributors to global development, and maintainers of the international order.
We must firmly defend international fairness and justice. President Xi Jinping stressed that the world needs justice rather than hegemony. History and reality have shown that in order to address global challenges, we must adhere to dialogue rather than confrontation, partnership rather than alliance, win-win rather than zero sum. We shall practice true multilateralism, take into account the reasonable concerns of all parties, and maintain international rules and order. We firmly oppose the frequent use of force or the threat of force in handling international disputes, and firmly oppose arbitrary interference in the internal affairs of other countries under the pretext of so-called "democracy", "freedom", "human rights", etc. It is our belief that people all over the world will choose to stand on the right side of history and on the side of fairness and justice.
We must adhere to the path of peaceful development. In the development of civilization for over 5000 years, the Chinese nation has always pursued and inherited the concepts of peace, amity and harmony. The Chinese people love and cherish peace. Although being bullied in modern times, they did not adopt the law of the jungle, but determined to maintain peace. Currently, the Chinese government and people are striding forward on a new journey of building a strong country. The great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation has entered an irreversible historical process. China is firmly committed to the path of peaceful development, and also hopes that other countries will adhere to the path of peaceful development as well. Only when all countries follow the path of peaceful development can peaceful coexistence and common development be achieved.
We need to promote the construction of a community with a shared future for humanity. The concept of building a community with a shared future for humanity proposed by President Xi Jinping is the inheritance and development of valuable experience gained from the victory of the Anti-Fascist War. In this ever-changing era, this concept is demonstrating wisdom that transcends time and space. It not only answers the questions raised by the world, history, and the times about where humanity is heading, but also illuminates the path forward for a world that is tumbling for solutions. China is willing to work together with all parties to actively implement the Global Development Initiative, Global Security Initiative, and Global Civilization Initiative, promote the construction of a community with a shared future for humanity, and jointly create a world of lasting peace, universal security, common prosperity, openness, inclusiveness, cleanliness, and beauty!
