WILLEMSTAD - The Council of Ministers today discusses the two points of concern brought forth by the employees of the refinery through their union. They want Clift Christiaan, chairman of the negotiation team, to resign and Errol Cova, union leader and consultant, to be added to the team.
These questions were submitted to Prime Minister Eugene Rhuggenaath who would discuss it during the meeting of the Council of Ministers.
The employees laid down their work because they say they are worried about the future of the refinery and their jobs. Last weekend it was announced that the preferred bidder for the acquisition of the refinery had pulled out from the negotiations.
Rhuggenaath to unions PWFC and Apri: “Cova has already signed a contract with the refinery to provide support. Moreover, we have an agreement that Mr. Cova is an important intermediary for contact with PdVSA and the Venezuelan government. It is difficult to place the same person who is the contact person for RdK with Venezuela in the RdK team to negotiate with other partners who may be the direct or indirect competitor of PdVSA. Especially given that PdVSA is still in the running to manage the refinery after 2019.”
