WILLEMSTAD - On Monday, November 3, 2025, Curaçao’s Prime Minister Gilmar Pisas, accompanied by the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, Sithree van Heydoorn, and the Minister of Justice, Shalten Hato, held a meeting with the President of the Republic of Suriname, Jennifer Geerlings-Simons, during her brief stopover in Curaçao on her way to an official working visit abroad.

During the cordial encounter, both delegations discussed several regional developments, including the devastation caused by Hurricane Melissa in Jamaica, Haiti, Cuba, and Bermuda, as well as the tense situation between Venezuela and the United States and its potential impact on the Caribbean’s tourism sector.
The talks also focused on how Curaçao and Suriname can strengthen bilateral cooperation in key areas such as justice, economy, agriculture, and transport, with the goal of fostering sustainable growth and mutual benefit.
The meeting took place in a warm and friendly atmosphere, highlighting the historical, cultural, and familial bonds shared between Curaçao and Suriname.
Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining an open dialogue and to expanding cooperation across various fields, emphasizing the importance of unity and partnership among Caribbean nations in the face of shared regional challenges.
