Curaçao to Host 2025 Aicesis General Assembly and Board Meetings

WILLEMSTAD - The International Association of Economic and Social Councils and Similar Institutions (AICESIS) will hold its upcoming General Assembly in Willemstad, Curaçao, from October 30–31, 2025. Different countries that are members of AICESIS will gather in Curaçao to address socio-economic and sustainable development topics that draw global attention. This can be considered a recognition of the significant role that Curaçao’s Social and Economic Council (SER) has played and continues to play on the world stage. Preparations by the Economic and Social Council (SER) of Curaçao are well underway to ensure this important General Assembly is a great success, set against the rich, unique, and cosmopolitan Caribbean backdrop of Curaçao.

The program includes a Board Meeting on October 30 and workshops for the AICESIS members, the General Assembly on October 31, and a second Board Meeting on October 31. These sessions will bring together representatives from about 70 countries, making Curaçao once again a stage for global dialogue. SER Curaçao has held the presidency of AICESIS for the 2023–2025 term. During this memorable event, SER Curaçao will preside over the AICESIS Board Meetings for the last time, after which the presidency will be handed over to another country during the conference.

As is customary, the meetings will review the results of the Curaçao presidency of AICESIS, led by SER Curaçao, and present the final presidency report. Delegates will also address several key issues, such as the Association’s partnerships with UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and the International Labour Organization (ILO), the election of the new AICESIS President, Board Members, and Vice Secretaries-General (VSGs), and the consideration of new applications for membership in the Association.

Holding the presidency of AICESIS has given Curaçao a unique opportunity to raise its profile on the international stage. Curaçao has positioned itself as a center of expertise and a bridge between different regions and cultures, while also contributing to fair and sustainable governance supported both locally and internationally.

The Willemstad meetings reaffirm AICESIS’s mission to strengthen international cooperation and promote dialogue on social and economic development. With the participation of diverse member councils from across the globe, the General Assembly offers a vital forum to exchange best practices, reinforce multilateral partnerships, and set priorities for the years ahead.
