WILLEMSTAD – The new design for Curaçao’s 2026 license plates has been officially revealed. Minister of Finance Javier Silvania (MFK) announced the winning design via his Facebook page, confirming that Giovanni Atalita was selected as the winner of the public design competition.
Earlier this year, the government released a series of proposed designs for public feedback, but the initial options sparked widespread criticism and debate on social media. In response, the government launched a public design contest to give residents a greater voice in the process.
Atalita’s design emerged as the public favorite through submissions and engagement on Facebook, ultimately earning the top spot.
The new license plate featuring the winning design will officially go into circulation starting in 2026. The initiative reflects the government’s effort to increase public involvement in national decisions and foster a stronger sense of identity through civic participation.
