WILLEMSTAD – On February 1, Mr. Hans de Jong returned as Director of the Curaçao Civil Aviation Authority (CCAA). He will assist the organization in the preparations for the audit of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) this year in September. He will also work to take Curaçao back to category 1 status, according to the standards of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) of the U.S.
After October 2018, De Jong resigned citing personal reasons, he has shown now the willingness to help where necessary. Seeing the short time to find a qualified person for the position and the complexity of the situation, De Jong opted to return and continue the process that he started in the organization.
Minister of Traffic, Transport and Spatial Planning who is responsible for the aviation sector, Zita Jesus-Leito hopes that De Jong will be able to achieve what the government has been working on for a few years now which is the regain the category 1 status and successfully pass the ICAO audit.
