Delft technology company behind plan for Ocean Eco Park Curacao bankrupt

WILLEMSTAD, DELFT - Bluerise, the Delft technology company behind the plan for the construction of an innovation power plant at Curaçao airport, is bankrupt.

For nine years, the company has been working on the plan to produce energy and drinking water in a sustainable way at Hato by pumping cold sea water according to the so-called Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion principle. The power plant would form the heart of the future Ocean Eco Park, which was to become a delivery room for innovation. The target date for starting the project has been postponed time and time again.

Bluerise was dependent on subsidies and crowdfunding for financing. A total of 1 million euros is said to have been raised in recent years. A few days ago, it became clear that the company, which has a branch in Aruba, could no longer pay its bills. The bankruptcy was pronounced today.
