Fuel, Water, and Electricity Prices Adjusted Starting This Week

WILLEMSTAD – Beginning Tuesday, June 30, the price of gasoline in Curaçao will increase by one cent per liter, rising from 2.03 to 2.04 guilders. In contrast, diesel will become slightly cheaper, dropping by just over two cents from 1.60 to 1.57 guilders per liter.

According to the official announcement, the small increase in gasoline prices is due to a rise in the purchase price, while the drop in diesel is the result of a correction in the surplus/shortage component.

LPG cylinder prices will remain unchanged for now. The price for a 100 lbs gas cylinder stays at 80 guilders, and the 20 lbs cylinder remains at 16 guilders.

Water and Electricity Rates to Increase as of July 1

Starting July 1, the rates for drinking water and electricity will also go up. The government announced that the price of water will increase by approximately 20 cents per cubic meter, due to higher production costs and an adjusted correction factor.

This increase applies across all user categories. For example, households using 9 to 12 cubic meters per month will see their rate go from 13.24 to nearly 13.44 guilders per m³. High-volume users consuming over 20 cubic meters will now pay more than 17.36 guilders per m³.

For electricity, the price hike is modest. Households with average monthly consumption between 250 and 350 kilowatt-hours will see an increase from 0.659 to 0.669 guilders per kWh. Slight increases also apply to commercial users and hospitals.

The adjustments aim to reflect rising costs in production and ensure continued service reliability, authorities said.
