WILLEMSTAD - During its meeting on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, the Council of Ministers of Curaçao approved several important decisions concerning national affairs, focusing on education and law enforcement cooperation within the Kingdom.
Investment in Education Infrastructure
The government has authorized a budget amendment to enable the purchase of new printers for schools under the Dienst Openbare Scholen (DOS). The initiative, led by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sport (OWCS), aims to improve the operational efficiency and learning environment in public schools. With this investment, DOS schools will be better equipped to manage administrative tasks and support teachers and students with the necessary educational materials.
Strengthening Law Enforcement Training Across the Kingdom
The Council of Ministers also approved a new cooperation agreement between the Korps Politie Aruba, the Divisie Politie Opleidingen en Ontwikkeling, and Curaçao’s Opleidingsinstituut voor de Rechtshandhaving en Veiligheidszorg (ORV). This collaboration, coordinated by the Ministry of Justice, focuses on strengthening police training and professional development across the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
The agreement seeks to enhance the exchange of expertise, promote standardized training programs, and foster closer ties between the law enforcement institutions of Curaçao and Aruba. The government emphasized that such partnerships contribute to higher professional standards and improved security across the Caribbean part of the Kingdom.
Both decisions reflect the government’s ongoing commitment to improving public services and inter-island cooperation within the Kingdom framework.
