WILLEMSTAD - Prime Minister Gilmar Pisas held a periodic governmental consultation today with the Dutch State Secretary for the Interior and Kingdom Relations, Mr. E. van Marum. The discussions focused on the Office of the Receiver of Taxes, the Central Bank of Curaçao and Sint Maarten (CBCS), and the ongoing implementation of the reforms outlined in the Country Package.

State Secretary Van Marum expressed that the Dutch government remains highly interested in resolving the issues surrounding the Receiver of Taxes, as part of its commitment to good governance and sound financial management. Prime Minister Pisas noted that the situation at the Receiver’s Office has stabilized following the measures taken by his government. Van Marum also offered, if necessary, personnel support to assist with ongoing judicial investigations.
Regarding the appointment of supervisory board members at the CBCS, Prime Minister Pisas emphasized that since Curaçao and Sint Maarten became autonomous countries and established a shared central bank, the appointment process has presented particular challenges for both parties. He underlined the need to find a definitive solution to this issue.
