WILLEMSTAD – The Curaçao Ports Authority (CPA) has announced an ongoing maritime operation involving the WEI XIAO TIAN SHI, a heavy load carrier of the semi-submersible type, which is currently unloading equipment at Jetty 2 in Caracas Bay.
The vessel arrived in Curaçao to offload four tugboats, a barge, and a rig, which will later be transported to Venezuela. The operation is scheduled to continue through the evening of Wednesday, July 30.
Due to the specialized nature of the operation, which requires waters deeper than 25 meters, Curaçao was selected as the ideal location for this complex offloading procedure. The entire process is being carried out under the supervision of the harbor master, along with port pilots, port safety inspectors, and KTK (Curaçao Towage Company).
Public Safety Advisory Issued
The CPA has issued a public safety advisory urging residents and visitors to stay clear of the operation site. People in the area are strongly advised not to dive or use jetskis, boats, or other watercraft near the operation zone to prevent accidents or disruptions.
“Safety is our top priority,” the CPA emphasized in its statement. The authority thanked the public for their cooperation and reminded everyone to respect the restricted area during the ongoing port activity.
