Information Session Held on Integrity Screening for Candidate Ministers

WILLEMSTAD – The Governor of Curaçao, H.E. Lucille George-Wout, in coordination with Prime Minister Gilmar Pisas, organized an information session on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, regarding the National Ordinance on Integrity for (Candidate) Ministers. The session was attended by party leaders and representatives of the executive boards of political parties participating in the upcoming elections on March 21, 2025.

Theo Caris, Director of Legislation and Legal Affairs at the Ministry of General Affairs, provided an overview of the legal framework, purpose, and necessity of the ordinance. Following this, representatives from various investigative agencies involved in the integrity screening process presented their procedures and addressed questions from attendees. The session was moderated by Lizanne Dindial, Vice President of the Advisory Council. 

The integrity screening process is a crucial step in ensuring transparency and accountability in the appointment of candidate ministers. Under the responsibility of the cabinet formateur, candidate ministers will be nominated for appointment to the Governor, who oversees strict compliance with both the letter and spirit of the National Ordinance on Integrity for (Candidate) Ministers.
