Ministers America and Silvania Discuss Possible Indexation of AOV Pensions

WILLEMSTAD – Curaçao’s Minister of Labor and Social Development, Charetti America, held an extensive meeting with Minister of Finance, Javier Silvania, to discuss the possibility of indexing AOV pensions. The talks took place together with representatives from the Social Insurance Bank (SVB), the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), the government audit office SOAB, as well as delegates from the Ministry of Economic Development.

The main objectives of the meeting were:

To inventory the different options available for indexing AOV pensions.

To evaluate the legal feasibility of such measures.

To analyze the financial consequences.

To reflect on recommendations made by the Social and Economic Council (EBA) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

To promote an informed and broad discussion on the possible options.

According to Minister America, the exchange of views provided valuable input from various disciplines, ensuring that both the financial and social impacts of indexation are fully considered.

“Our hearts are committed to our pensioners,” said America, adding that the government will continue working on a sustainable path toward securing fair and adequate pensions.
