New Parliamentary Factions in Curaçao Appoint 13 Staff Members

WILLEMSTAD – In the newly seated Parliament of Curaçao, a total of thirteen faction staff members have been appointed across four political factions. The appointments are part of a new allocation system that distributes staff positions based on the number of seats held by each faction.

The MFK faction leads with six staff members, followed by PNP with three, while the PAR and MAN-PIN factions will each be supported by two staffers. According to the updated guidelines, factions with 1 to 3 seats are entitled to two staff members, those with 4 to 5 seats receive three, and factions with 12 or more seats are allotted six.

The new appointments include both familiar faces and fresh names. Former Members of Parliament and ministers are among those returning in support roles, such as Zita Jesus-Leito (MFK), Jacinta Constancia, and former attorney Adelbert Rooijer.

The PNP faction has brought in former MPs Gwendell Mercelina and Elvin Gerard, while Ana-Maria Pauleta joins the PAR faction as a staff member. The MAN-PIN faction includes former MP Yaël Plet among its appointments.

Faction staff members play a crucial advisory and support role, helping to strengthen the legislative and political work of their respective parties within Parliament.

This move marks a significant step in organizing the new legislative term, ensuring each faction has the resources and personnel to carry out its responsibilities effectively.
