WILLEMSTAD – Following recent public concern and media speculation surrounding the enrollment schedule for new students at Radulphus College, the Catholic Central School Board (RKCS) has issued a statement clarifying the situation and firmly denying any claims of unequal treatment or discrimination.
According to RKCS, suggestions circulating in the media and on social platforms alleging preferential treatment based on students’ backgrounds or neighborhoods are unfounded. The board emphasizes that the enrollment schedule was strictly based on the number of digital pre-registrations received from each primary school, a method designed to ensure a smooth, transparent, and well-organized registration process.
“This approach has been in place for several years and was implemented precisely to avoid long lines and confusion,” the board stated. “Every student who received a ‘havo’ recommendation and selected Radulphus College as their first choice has been admitted—regardless of their background or where they live.”
RKCS also clarified that students who were unable to attend their scheduled registration time were personally contacted and given an alternative opportunity to enroll.
General Director Paula-Pierre expressed deep regret over what she described as a “distorted image” that has taken shape in the public debate. “Our values are rooted in equality, inclusion, and love for every child,” she stated. “From a Catholic perspective, we believe in the intrinsic goodness of every child. Every child is equal before God and equally deserving of love, care, and education.”
Pierre stressed that it is inconceivable for any RKCS-affiliated school to engage in favoritism, exclusion, or discrimination. On the contrary, she said, the board is committed to increasing educational opportunities and promoting holistic development for all students—especially the most vulnerable.
In closing, the RKCS urged the public to approach discussions on the matter with care and invited the community to remain engaged in a constructive dialogue about building a fair and inclusive educational future for every child on the island.
