WILLEMSTAD – The Joint Court of Justice has begun the search for a new president following the upcoming appointment of the current president, Mauritsz de Kort, as Governor of Curaçao. As a result, his position will become vacant on November 4.
President Mauritsz de Kort to Assume Role as Governor
De Kort has served as president of the Joint Court of Justice of Aruba, Curaçao, Sint Maarten, and the BES Islands (Bonaire, Sint Eustatius, and Saba) since 2022. He will continue in his current role until November 4, after which the position will be officially vacant.
Recruitment Process to Begin Next Week
The selection committee is expected to begin the recruitment process next week. The procedure will follow established protocols, with an emphasis on thoroughness and care. The chairperson of the selection committee will lead the process.
The first step will be to establish the job profile, which will outline the qualifications and qualities required for the new president. This information will then be included in the job vacancy, which will be published both internally and externally.
Appointment for a Five-Year Term
It is still unclear when a suitable candidate will be found. The appointment of the new president will be for a five-year term, in accordance with the existing regulations.
