Several Arrested in Corruption Probe at Curaçao's Ministry of Spatial Planning

WILLEMSTAD – The Landsrecherche Curaçao (LRC), the country’s national investigative agency, has arrested multiple individuals in connection with an ongoing corruption investigation within the UOOW department of the Ministry of Traffic, Transportation and Urban Planning (VVRP). The Public Prosecution Service (OM) confirmed the arrests in an official statement released on Tuesday.

The LRC is conducting the investigation under the supervision of the OM. According to the statement, several former and current ministry employees were taken into custody during raids carried out at multiple private residences. Authorities have not ruled out additional arrests, and it remains unclear whether a search was conducted at the ministry itself.

The Public Prosecution Service emphasized the seriousness of the matter, stating that corruption within the civil service poses a significant threat to public trust in government institutions. “For this reason, this case is being treated as a top priority,” the OM stated.

Due to the sensitive and ongoing nature of the investigation, no further details are being disclosed at this time.
