WILLEMSTAD – In a sign of renewed operations at the Bullenbaai oil terminal, the Colombian-flagged tanker Safeen Elizabeth docked early yesterday morning. The vessel arrived from the port of Coveñas, Colombia, marking one of the first tanker activities at the site in years.
The Safeen Elizabeth is reportedly transporting petroleum products, though the exact nature of the cargo has not been officially confirmed. Unverified sources suggest the shipment may have originated from Colombia’s Vasconia-CIB pipeline. It remains unclear whether the cargo consists of crude oil or refined products.
The Bullenbaai terminal is operated by VIGOR, the successor to former operator Oryx. While a company spokesperson declined to comment on individual vessel movements or cargo details, they did confirm that the terminal is active and available for commercial use under long-term strategic plans.
“In line with previous announcements, VIGOR has appointed NRG Midstream as the exclusive representative for storage capacity and operations at the terminal in Curaçao,” the company stated. “This reinforces our commitment to high-quality, sustainable, and safe services.”
The arrival of the Safeen Elizabeth is a notable development for Bullenbaai, which has seen limited use since the departure of Venezuelan state oil company PdVSA. The movement suggests a potential resurgence of energy-related activity at the facility, which had largely fallen dormant in recent years.
