WILLEMSTAD – Despite the recent ransomware attack that disrupted the Tax Office in Curaçao, taxpayers remain obliged to make their payments on time. In a press release, the Tax Office emphasized that the payment systems are fully operational and that the Receiver’s Office is open to arrange payment plans.
Those who cannot pay in full at the moment can request a payment arrangement at the Receiver’s Office on Regentesselaan, where debit card payments are also accepted. Online payments through the usual digital channels remain available as well.
Avoiding Penalties
The Tax Office is urging citizens to meet their obligations to avoid fines and enforcement measures. For those facing temporary financial difficulties, payment plans can provide some relief.
Limited Customer Service
Due to the ongoing recovery efforts, physical and telephone customer service remains unavailable. Questions can only be submitted via web form or email.
Data Safety a Priority
The Tax Office stressed that teams are working carefully to restore the compromised systems, adding that the security of data and systems remains the “highest priority.”
The ransomware incident has disrupted several services, but authorities insist that the island’s tax obligations continue as normal, with options in place to ease payment difficulties where necessary.
