VBC Discusses Traveler Experience with CAP CEO to Improve Airport Services

WILLEMSTAD – In an effort to enhance the traveler experience at Curaçao’s airport, the Vereniging Bedrijfsleven Curaçao (VBC) held a constructive meeting with Mr. Ricardo Hernández, CEO of Curaçao Airport Partners (CAP), to address concerns and discuss potential solutions. The meeting focused on improving the experience of visitors, particularly during peak travel seasons.

Addressing Concerns About Visitor Experience

VBC expressed its growing concerns regarding the challenges faced by travelers upon arriving at the airport, especially during the busiest times of the year. The association pointed out that visitors often encounter long wait times, lack of adequate information, and general inefficiencies that affect their first impression of the island. These issues can be particularly impactful during the high tourist season, when the influx of passengers places greater strain on airport facilities and services.

Mr. Hernández acknowledged these concerns and recognized that while the airport infrastructure has been steadily improving, there remains a need to streamline the arrival process to make it smoother and more efficient for travelers. He assured VBC that CAP is aware of the challenges and is already working in close collaboration with various stakeholders to address the issues head-on.

Collaborative Efforts for Improvement

According to Mr. Hernández, CAP is focused on enhancing the overall passenger experience, which encompasses both arrivals and departures. To achieve this, the organization has prioritized the exploration and implementation of both short-term and long-term solutions. These include improving passenger flow, investing in better technology for check-ins, and enhancing the overall coordination between the airport and other key services such as customs and immigration.

“We understand that the arrival experience plays a critical role in shaping the perceptions of our visitors. CAP is committed to working alongside all relevant parties, including government agencies, airlines, and service providers, to drastically improve the process,” said Hernández.

A Strong Commitment to Infrastructure Development

VBC has recognized CAP’s commitment to continuous improvement in the services provided at the airport. VBC commended the ongoing efforts to modernize and upgrade the infrastructure, but emphasized that collaboration between the public and private sectors will be essential for ensuring sustained growth and development. VBC has pledged to remain an active partner in fostering initiatives that will strengthen Curaçao’s tourism and economic infrastructure.

“Curaçao’s airport is the gateway to our island and plays a crucial role in welcoming tourists, investors, and business leaders. It’s essential that we continue working together to create an environment that reflects the best of what Curaçao has to offer,” stated a representative from VBC.

Long-Term Vision for Curaçao’s Tourism Growth

With tourism being a key pillar of Curaçao’s economy, the VBC highlighted the importance of aligning airport improvements with broader efforts to enhance the island's tourism infrastructure. The organization stressed the need for investments that not only support increased tourism traffic but also position Curaçao as a modern, efficient, and competitive destination in the Caribbean region.

The conversation also touched on the importance of sustainability and digitalization in the airport’s growth strategy. By incorporating eco-friendly technologies and improving digital services for passengers, the airport can offer a seamless, efficient experience that meets the expectations of both leisure and business travelers.

Moving Forward

The collaboration between VBC and CAP marks an important step in the ongoing efforts to improve Curaçao’s tourism experience. With a clear focus on enhancing the passenger experience and addressing key challenges at the airport, both parties are optimistic about the progress that can be made in the coming months.

Looking ahead, VBC and CAP plan to continue their dialogue and explore further solutions to ensure the long-term success of Curaçao’s tourism sector, with the ultimate goal of providing visitors with a memorable and welcoming experience from the moment they arrive.
