WILLEMSTAD – The Curaçao Business Association (VBC) is urging greater emphasis on data collection as a foundation for innovation, competitiveness, and policymaking. According to the organization, reliable data is essential for both businesses and government to make well-informed decisions.
The VBC highlighted that data enables companies to better understand customer behavior, analyze market trends, and operate more efficiently. It also serves as a strategic tool to identify risks early and seize economic opportunities.
“Policymakers, educational institutions, and social organizations would all benefit from a more data-driven culture. Only with factual information can effective policy be developed, for example in the areas of labor markets, education, and public health,” the VBC stated.
The association is calling for stronger collaboration between government and the private sector, investments in digital infrastructure and data analysis tools, improved privacy protections, and greater support for research and education.
According to the VBC, data collection should not be seen as an end in itself but as a necessary condition to make Curaçao more resilient and future-proof.
