WILLEMSTAD - Recently, a total of 26 participants successfully completed the ‘Rijdend met Kompas Certificate B’ course to become certified taxi or bus drivers. The course was organized by the Ministry of Traffic, Transportation, and Urban Planning (VVRP), in close collaboration with the Curaçao Tourism Board (CTB). During a pleasant ceremony, the Minister of Traffic, Transportation, and Urban Planning, as well as the Minister of Economic Development, Mr. Charles Cooper, accompanied by Mr. Sithree van Heydoorn, Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports (OWCS), presented the certificates to the participants.

The public transportation course, ‘Rijdend met Kompas Certificate B,’ started in May 2024 and concluded in September 2024. The aim of the course was to provide the opportunity to become a professional public transportation driver, whether for taxi or bus services. The course covered various important topics for professional drivers, including transportation laws, proficiency in three different languages, both spoken and written, quality service, resilient tourism, personal health, and more. The course took place at the University of Curaçao (UoC) and was coordinated by Nostra Growth, a certified institution by the Ministry of Education to offer public transportation training. 

In addition, participants who excelled during the lessons and achieved high scores were awarded. These included Mr. Armando Martinez, Mr. Kennedy Kierindongo, and Mr. Valdi Mercera. 

It is noteworthy that several young participants showed interest in becoming professional drivers. This is certainly something to applaud, as it indicates that they also see potential in a career in public transportation and tourism.
