Antilles increasingly popular as a travel destination among Surinamese

PARAMARIBO - The Antilles are gaining popularity as a travel destination among Surinamese. This is evident from recent consumer research conducted by CoreStats, in which 1,282 Surinamese citizens aged eighteen and older participated. The Suriname Daily reports on this.

Curaçao ranks third as a favorite travel destination with thirteen percent of the votes, followed by Aruba with six percent. These figures emphasize the growing appeal of the Antilles among Surinamese travelers.

Netherlands remains the most popular destination with over 24 percent, followed by the United States with almost fourteen percent, often due to family ties. Interestingly, neighboring countries of Suriname, such as Brazil, French Guiana, and Guyana, are less frequently chosen as vacation destinations, with 2.3 percent, 3.6 percent, and 1.5 percent, respectively.

These findings suggest that, in addition to traditional choices, Surinamese are considering other interesting destinations, with the Antilles increasingly in the spotlight as both attractive and budget-friendly options.
